STOP PRESS! NEWS As I wrap up my Freedom Challenge adventure and raising funds for Carel du Toit Center East London, I have decided to keep this page open and will be renaming it: Clint’s Adventures & Make a Difference Outreach through cycling 2014/15. My training and preparation for Freedom Challenge race to Rhodes 2015 is still underway and I have also combined this with committing involvement in other ventures. I have decided to embark on another year of support towards an exceptional school, Queens College of which and where I obtained my schooling & education. The support I speak about is taking part, riding and supporting the annual 1965Ride initiative along with the help of others though. The 1965 Ride is an initiative of the Class of ’65 old boys who attended Queens College in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa and is spearheaded by Antony John Frost, a former Old Boy, Class of ‘65 and his team. The objective is to raise funds for bursaries for deserving learners who require assistance and to receive a quality education. This initiative was launched in 2011 and whereby every year a band of cyclists depart from the South African town of Heidelberg in the north and cycle to Queenstown in the south, spanning some 850km over 9 days. This event will take place from Wed 8 April to Thurs 16 April 2015. All cyclists are encouraged to raise a minimum sponsorship amount of R30 000 and the money raised goes towards a bursary fund for deserving students who wish to attend and board at Queens College. All monies are paid directly into the Queens College Trust account and are also tax deductible. The funds are raised via personally contacting and obtaining willing corporate donations and also whereby asking family and friends to join in and support my journey by sharing the initiative as well as sponsoring either a lump sum or an amount per km cycled. Any amount of sponsorship is welcomed big or small and goes a long way to making a difference. The big effort is to rally the required assistance and support so to ensure enough money is raised. Willing donors and sponsors become part of and join a family of givers and supporters of this cause. Recognition of sponsors and donors are advertised and placed through various forms of media channels within the 1965Ride network. I have been privileged to have been involved with incredible people and this event in 2012 and 2013. Due to my partaking in the 2014 Freedom Challenge race across South Africa, I missed the 2014 event. If you would like to make a contribution or know of any person or company that would be interested in making a contribution, please share and pass on this page.
