STORM SURGES Prediction: Carigara and Babatngon in Leyte...Basey, Sta Rita in Western Samar and Tacloban City will reach 3-4 meter in elevation,while LANDSLIDE is higher in Northern Samar area and other areas in Samar Island. They are now addressing the issue of Panic Buying/Hoarding and the President is looking into Declaring a State of Calamity so the government can compel stores/ malls not to raise prices of basic commodities. Airport to carry immediate supplies is now being discussed since Tacloban, Guiauan are affected. Philippine Coast Guard will also be tapped to carry supplies by Friday. According to DSWD they are preparing the food packs and declared that 35,000 families are now being evacuated to safe areas in Tacloban City and also checking into bringing to safer areas the134 families in the bunk houses of Hernani and Marabut as these are low lying areas in the region. DILG made initial coordination with the LGUs and Mayors of forecasted areas in Eastern Visayas. NFA is called for availability of rice supplies and check on the condition of warehouses.
