STORY FROM FR CHIMA AHANEKU Umu nne, since yesterday i have been trying to get Fr Chima Ahaneku on phone but luckily just spoke with him now for about 45 minutes and he gave me his own account of this sad incident. According to him he was asked by Cardinal Onaiykan through the Vicar Fr Ebii to go and help in our parish since according to him the two priests there are either on sabbatical or were indisposed or about to travel. He decided to take along some guys to help him deal with the packing and unpacking of his loads. On getting to Nnarambia he didnt see any of the priests and the seminarian he saw on ground told him that they have all travelled. As he was trying to make a call to the people that sent him he over heard the voice of one of the priest from inside the house telling the security man to pump water for him. At this time he was surprised that the seminarian lied to him about there were-about and decided to call the VICAR to report the situation. Then the Vicar called the priest severally which was unsuccessful apparently the priest was avoiding the VICARS call. According to him after about an hour all the priest he was told earlier that traveled came out from nowhere to ask him his mission at that point he brought the letter given to him by the VICAR but unknown to him one of the priest had made calls to the Nnarambia youth president that kidnappers are in our parish to kidnap them. Suddenly, he noticed the presence of police and some youths who came and were asking him to identify himself which he did. After his identification the policemen were embarrassed and left in annoyance but the youths remained and started asking him funny questions as what his mission was to our parish. After another 30 minutes a crowd of youths appeared and started throwing stones and bottles at him he had to run inside the fathers house for fear of injuries. Within some minutes inside the Fathers house he noticed a big bang on the door and one of our sons Fr Samuel Akaraonye and Dee Dona Ekeanyanwu came in and Fr samuel started dragging him on his cloth to come out of the house and that he will deal with him. So Dee Dona Ekeanyanwu told Fr samuel to allow him to explain himself but Fr samuel refused until he was dragged outside where he met a lot of Nnarambia youths. It was then that Nnarambia youths told Fr samuel Akaraonye to leave him to explain himself afterall they are the same priests. While he was doing the explanation some other youths from otulu and ekwerazu wanted to beat him on the orders of Fr samuel Akaraonye but Shubee from umuezerugwu and other Nnarambia youths warned them that nobody should touch him after all he is from Nnarambia and an outsider cant beat him in their presence. So as all these were going on the boys that came with had been mercilessly beaten to a point of death and the tires of his vehicle deflected. Finally it was agreed that he should go home with the car that way but Fr Samuel Refused and sat on his bonnet. Some other Nnarambia youths told him to go home and leave the car as he was going the youths from otulu started breaking the windscreen and other things in the car. Umu nnem, i am still trying to get in touch with Fr samuel to get his own side of the story and the youth president from Nnarambia whom he told me is from Kabuos family. What i can say for now is that this looks like a classical case of false alarm which is further worsened because of the favorable stand of Fr Chima to the issue of Bishop Okpaleke which greater majority of mbaise people do not want. The truth is that because of the fact that the majority do not want the Bishop to come every opposing view to this has been receiving bashings and attacks from mbaise community. For the youths that saved Fr Chima from being beaten, i thank you it further shows our bonded unity in Iwu Nke Nnarambia ONYE AGHALA NWA NNE YA irrespective of the situation and views our supreme bonded unity is sacrosanct.
