STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART Kind Words Turn Away Wrath Any words we speak could never be retracted! Therefore, let every man be” swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to wrath.” Our heart and thoughts are purified by the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The fruit of the spirit protects our faith and our future. We have heard it time and time again, “from the abundance of our hearts, the mouth speaks”. If garbage is stored in the heart that is exactly what comes out of the mouth. A seasoned Christian would not allow herself to be provoked to the point where she would find herself exchanging harsh words with the provoker; for instance if someone comes up to you and say “girl, your hair looks like a briar patch” you wouldn’t tell her a piece of your mind but instead say “Oh thank you for bringing it to my attention. I’ll try and improve on it.” Those kind words would stop her right in her track. Kind words do turn away wrath. Proverbs 16:1 tells us that The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, are from the Lord. Hosea 10:12 tells us that we must Sow to ourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up our fallow ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rain righteousness upon us. Joel Osteen quoted something very powerful when he said that we can change our world by changing our words... Remember, death and life is in the power of the tongue. Have a blessed day.
