STRANGE TOUR STORY... Why I nearly didnt make it to last nights gig... I have been staying in a holiday apartment in Perth whilst on tour. My good mates over here lined it up for me, and it has been a fantastic home base for a week in Perth. I have been very grateful for a quiet place to stay amongst the madness of nightly gigging on tour. So, I went out for a recording session at a friends studio yesterday afternoon. I used mostly his equipment, and left mine in the apartment. I left plenty of time to get to the show. However, when I arrived back at the accommodation, there was police tape covering all the doorways, and several police at every entrance. No one was allowed in or out of the building. This went on for several hours. Apparently, one of the bottom apartments was being used by someone as a meth lab. There was a huge police bust. After many hours of waiting, and dinner at a local pizza place with my mates, I came back and began one last attempt at asking the cops if I could get my guitars out so I could make my show. Luckily by this stage they said they were sure that the chemists had stabilised the situation. The police were very friendly, and they went and got my guitars and equipment out of my room (luckily my room was on a different level of the building than the lab). I was still not allowed into the building, though. The police came back with my guitars, but not my clothes. I was wearing shorts at the time. Luckily, a mate lent me a pair of jeans to wear at the gig. There are always unexpected moments on tour. A quiet little holiday apartment block became a crime scene. I know that people enjoy a good drama, so I thought this would be worthwhile posting for you to read. Please do not make any jokes about the name of my latest single and music video. I am clean, lean, mean, green and innocent!
