STRENGTH FOR TODAY (GOD IS WORKING IN YOU) Delight yourself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Ps 37:4 Most of our prayers tend to be selfish prayers where we ask God to grant us our hearts desires. We pray something like this,’ Thank you father for blessing me. I am not satisfied with what I have so can you please give me a house, new car and a job in the bank. While you are praying your life is not wholly committed to God. Rather you are not any different from an unbeliever. Your business ethic, your dressing and your language is not different and yet you want the Lord to grant you your hearts desire. He will not do that because it will be going against His word. God’s promises are conditional. As you delight yourself in Him, He will grant you your hearts desire. He will if necessary, cause His desires to become yours and then it gets granted. He causes His desires to be yours, His desire for you to live a holy life, to spend time in His word, to serve Him to be blessed and so on. When you now put a request before Him it is easy for Him to grant it because it was originally His desire for you. Delight yourself in Him, your will will become aligned with His and your hearts desire will come to pass. Confession: My God is a good father who wants me to have the best there is. He has standards that must never be bent. I have aligned myself with the standards of His word so I can not miss what He so earnestly desires me to have. Scripture Reading: Jer 29:11, Luke 11:9 - 14
