STRENGTH FOR TODAY (INFLUENCE FACTOR) No matter how good a Christian you are, the wrong company can pull you down. In Ps 1:1 we see the Psalmist talking about the person who delights in the word of God. He says that the person who keeps company with the ungodly, the sinner or the scornful will not blossom like a tree planted by the rivers. Those people might not be strangers. Your friends, family members or colleagues at work can scorn your faith in God. They can lead you into ungodly ways of doing things such as cheating, wrong character or attitude, or be outright sinners that have nothing good to teach you. The bible says such people should not be your close friends such that you take counsel from ungodly issues such as whether or not to marry a believer or an unbeliever, or whether to live a holy life or not. God’s word and godly people should be where you spend your time and go for counsel. As you delight in the word of God and meditate on it day and night, you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. Such trees blossom in and out of season because their roots have tapped into the water. The choice is yours. If you want whatsoever you do to prosper you will have to spend time in God’s presence. If you are satisfied living a barely get along life then you can keep friends that confuse your spirit man. Make the right choice and you will keep prospering in all areas of life.
