STUDENT VISAS – WORK PERMISSION AND EXTENDING YOUR STAY Most student visas let you and your dependent family members work up to 40 hours a fortnight while your course is in session. You are not allowed to work until your course starts. Your course in session: • for the duration of the advertised semesters, including examination periods • if you have completed your studies but your Confirmation of Enrolment is still valid (with the exception of masters by research or PhD students who have submitted their thesis for marking) • when you are taking another course during a break from your main course, and points from that course will be credited to your main course. Extending your stay You might be able to extend your stay in Australia for further study, work, your graduation or a holiday. However, if you have a ‘Further Stay Restricted’ condition on your visa, you generally are not able to apply for a new visa while you are in Australia. You must leave Australia no later than the date on which your visa ends. please contact us at info@owletonline for finding an appropriate visa for your circumstances.
