STUDENTS OF LAGOS STATE UNI CRY FOR HELP (submitted by our reader Ferdinand): It is really sad that the Lagos State government has, at this time, decreed that students must pay over three hundred and fifty thousand as school fees. In most states, school fees are at the lowest rates. Why is Lagos State government imposing heavy levies on students? Most families are finding it difficult to make ends meet, and they often have more than one child to support. How do you expect them to cope? I know of a family that withdrew all their children because they could no longer afford paying for their education. And education is the best legacy for a child! I am crying as I write this piece because education used to be free once upon a time in Lagos State. Why would the state government embezzle money to the detriment of students - who are the future leaders of tomorrow? Are you in a similar predicament? Whats the situation like at YOUR university?
