STYLIN NEWBIE FISHERMAN :: Cole Ryan Wilsons second fishing trip and already he has the mechanics down. He smoked me on count yesterday, 4 to 1. It is not an easy thing to use a spinning reel in fast water; you have to be quick with a small spinner lure to throw upstream, keep it off the bottom, then slow it down as the water brings it past in front of you and then slow it waaaaay down before bringing it back in for another cast... especially when youve used a spinning reel for all of two or three hours in your lifetime. Hes got me beat already—I was nothing but trouble with a spinning reel when I was kid. Thankfully, I had a no-frills, idiot-proof Zebco 202 in the 60s.
