SUAREZ SHOULD BE SHOT LIKE A DOG.(Im charging for this headline if you want to use it) As a Uruguayan I am extremely upset for what Suarez did and how he compromised our chances in the World Cup. This fine elite group of athletes have been working so hard for so long. Its my country and Im allowed to feel that way. Having said that, my level of upset with Suarez doesnt even come close to the anger at FIFA and their pigheaded cruelty towards him. Two things: 1- FIFA DID NOT follow regular procedures on this, they caved in to British media scandal campaign.and 2- FIFA twisted the arm of the members of the committee, countries with limited football tradition much less in World Cups, such as Congo, Singapore, Tonga, Cook Islands, Pakistan, Hong Kong and the Cayman Islands in order to get this through....Seriously! With those votes they put in motion a recourse that only had been used back in 1994...ONCE! Suarez has a problem, so do many other players. One of those is the Italian defender he teeth-marked: Chiellini. Last October Mr Chiellini in a 4-0 match broke the leg of an Argentinian forward... from behind! Chiellini is a dirty violent player and a repeat offender with a serious problem. The difference between these two acts is, that one leaves a mark that does not affect you or your team for the next match, even though is a despicable one. The other affects your team and the sport in a manner that I will argue is much more despicable than the first. FIFA, scapegoated Suarez. He was the easiest target ever, Suarez should have known that. We all did. The President of Uruguay, Jose Mujica, passionately stated: “Theres a different measure rod and this is what is most outrageous, and what most hurts”...“We left out Italy and England, imagine all the money theyve lost!!” And money, over and over is FIFAs downfall. Those of us that have followed Futbol all our lives know this very well. Not news to me, but I understand that to newcomers to the sport this whole thing sounds really bad and they feel that something had to be done. I Agree. The sad part of this is that this sanction does nothing for the multi million dollar Fair Play campaign other than PR kudos to FIFA itself. It does nothing to address the violence in Football. Legs, noses, skulls are going to continue to be broken. Malice and vicious intent that is very easy to determine on TV, is gonna continue happening and FIFA is not gonna do a damn thing about it, this kind of stuff makes awesome TV! They are good for another 20 years now. Im what you call, a Soccer Nut, no apologies here, Im the guy that screams on the sidelines and all that. But I also love this sport with a life passion and I want it to be better and cleaner. My life has been about working to promote good soccer, to give it what i had to offer at the level I could. Play, coach, referee, deal with Suburban parents, you name it. I want the talented to be allowed to play and show their craft without having to worry that somebody is gonna try to hurt you with 8 un-meaningful minutes left of Premier League play before the World Cup. How does British media covers that? Check it out: dailymail.co.uk/sport/worldcup2014/article-2636732/Luis-Suarez-injury-provokes-death-threat-Newcastle-defender-Paul-Dummett.html The tittle of the article is already a judgement on something that put Suarez in a negative light by association. Suarez doesnt know those idiots. I dont either, I dont have friends like that. You reading this article dont know people that burn crosses, but they are out there somewhere in America, right? What really is true is that the act in the field was actually... well you judge for yourself: youtube/watch?v=AgaQfV86ZvY The ball is actually behind Suarez, Paul Dummet still goes straight for the hit to the knee from behind, never makes adjustments, hes committed to go for the body. Heres another example of the kind of hostility Suarez endures some weekends playing in England: youtube/watch?v=_rHeEPxqtc4 FIFA doesnt investigate none of that. Not even the timing of the incident that caused the injury that required surgery. But the World Cup biting incident washes all this out and forgives all sins of the barbaric approach of the worst sport media the world has to offer. Theres one thing I am really proud of Suarez for, he lost it, but he didnt do nothing to harm the defenders ability to play for his country in the next game or the defenders ability to earn a living. And that is a lot more than what FIFA stands for. Pablo for LatinoAltROCK! More than Latino More than Alternative More than ROCK!
