SUBLATION is available to view online, no password needed. Heres a link and a review from my good friend Michelle Plato “The Girl”, as she is called throughout the film, awakes on a raft floating down the river with no memory of who she is or how she got there. The film follows “the girl” as she traverses unusual places full of eccentric people with sage advice about life. Sublation starts with “prologue” and it was powerful in a completely perfect memory way that is all weirdly fuzzy. The kind of memories that are nothing memories, of moments you never imagine will be the ones that stay with you for a life time. There is a moment with two of the characters in bed its the kind of lazy moment that seems to last a lifetime, a moment that you feel like is never going to end, and the world is beautiful. There are so many ludicrous moments of purposeful cheeky film making. From the simple to the preposterous, this movie is full of what may seem are mistakes, but are deliberate decisions pushing the boundaries of conventional filmaking. There is calculated dialogue that may seem forced but again I believe are intended choices of the director to encourage the development of the peculiar characters. I found it to sound like pretentious artists Ive had conversations with my whole life; it was amusing and stimulating with a side of intimidation. The soundtrack fit each scene completely, enough so that I want to own it. Which is saying a lot since in the last 10 years Ive only purchased 2 CD”s. This is a great piece of indie filmmaking. Though there are pacing issues, as well as some editing oversights and a few actors who are noticeably not “actors” , this is nothing but a preview for what this director/writer is going to deliver. This is the kind of film cult classic movie lovers will one day seek out as part of this directors library. One of those films where you can see the development of trademarks and distinctions beginning, the heart and love of a life time of filmmaking and a taste of what is to come. vimeo/95513850
