SUCCESS SICKNESS In our work we regularly meet men who have “prayed a prayer” for salvation, but for the last five, ten, fifteen, or more years they have been living by their own ideas. They have built on the foundation of their own best thinking. They read the Bible for comfort, but the Wall Street Journal for direction. In the process of living by their own ideas, they catch “success sickness.” Success sickness is the disease of always wanting more, but never being satisfied when they get it. And they are miserable. But what can we do? As the proverb says, No matter how far you have traveled down a wrong road, the only solution is to turn back. Until every church disciples every man...
