Candidates from the mainstream parties include Green candidate David Robinson, Liberal Glenn Thibeault, New Democrat Suzanne Shawbonquit (suzanneshawbonquit.ca) and Progressive Conservative Paula Peroni. The best-known independent is Andrew Olivier, the former Liberal who has dominated headlines since December, when he revealed prominent Liberals tried to convince him to withdraw his candidacy and support Thibeault. Instead, Olivier released two recordings of those conversations and launched an independent bid to win the seat. The other independent is James Waddell, who is registered on the elections website, but who doesnt provide any information regarding his candidacy. Another name is familiar to some Sudburians from the mayoral election – Jean-Raymond Audet, who is running for the Peoples Hope Party. The Toronto-based party was founded by Kevin Clarke, who promises build “a poverty free environment, giving youth the opportunity to grow, seniors the dignity to retire and citizens the respect they deserve.” More about the party and its founder can be accessed at thepeopleshope. The final candidate is John Turmel, leader of the Pauper Party of Ontario, which opposes slavery and debt.
