SUFFERING & SICK OF IT! The Jews of the first century believed - TopicsExpress

SUFFERING & SICK OF IT! The Jews of the first century believed that all suffering was a result of Gods judgment on sin. This concept is shared by many Christians today when they attempt to answer the question, Why do the righteous suffer? The Scripture teaches that God allows temporal disasters to happen for various reasons - one of which is to lead people to repentance. Although God may punish sin with suffering, suffering may also be part of a testing or learning process. We are precious to the Lord, like a fine piece of gold. He is purifying us through all the things we go through. Getting all the junk out. When they melt gold down, the trash and junk (dross) floats up to the top and can be scooped off leaving only the pure and clean and precious gold. Sometimes I bet you feel like you are just getting crushed by life. I have felt that way, yes, even while walking with God. But He knows the way that I take: when He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Job 23:10 In Revelation 2:8-11, the church of Smyrna was being crushed through persecution. In Greek Smyrna means myrrh, a precious spice worthy of kings. Jesus was given myrrh when the wise men worshiped Him. In order for myrrh to give its sweet fragrance it must be crushed. So also was Jesus crushed for us so that we could be saved! Our faith is even more precious than the gold we are compared to. That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:7 But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appears? for He is like a refiners fire, and like fullers soap: and He shall sit as a Refiner and Purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness. Malachi 3:3 Your offerings are not even worthy unto God unless you have been to Jesus and let Him scrub you up! ...and His eyes were as a flame of fire; and His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace..Revelation 1:14b-15a The fire speaks of judgment, He is our Judge and He will burn off all impurities from His sheep. Are you one of His sheep? Do you hear Him? The days are getting shorter, run to Him. Tell Him your heart and worship Him. He is the only Way to real and true life now and forever...
