SUFFOLK clubs should be aware that a number of changes have been made concerning discipline for the 2013/14 season. The FA have produced a Discipline Handbook for season 2013-14 – an online interactive reference guide to aid leagues, clubs and players at Step 5 and below where discipline is managed by County FA’s (as it is here in Suffolk). Jairo Marin, football services manager at Suffolk FA, said: “I urge you to spend some time looking through the Discipline Handbook which you can find via the link below. “You will see that the handbook is a useful guide which explains the disciplinary process and details the changes that have taken place over the last few years – principally the changes to the match-based disciplinary system, the introduction of sanction guidelines, and improved processes for handling discrimination cases.” To summarise a few key changes clubs certainly need to be aware of for the forthcoming season: •Under the match-based discipline system automatic suspensions will commence 14 days from the date of the fixture rather than commencing from 21 days as in previous seasons. •Suspensions will now be aligned to the day type football and not from youth only. •Sanction guidelines – these have been produced to show players and clubs the level of punishment they are likely to face in the event of a charge being successfully found proven against them.
