SUKHAMANO SIR! The phone chimes at an unearthly hour. It is an overseas call I could make out, even in a blurred vision without the specs. I am greeted with the caption. I wonder and ask for the identity of the Greeter. “I am your friend in FB, he wanted to continue, I switch off the phone. In UAE it must be indeed an earthly happy hour. Some more calls came from the same number, while I was in a crowded street in the Market Road, Ernakulam in an Auto, and then in an Exim bank seminar and also at some other occasions when I was busy on my work. Finally he catches up with me around 8 a.m. I pick up the call, social niceties followed. He said he is working in UAE and wanted to talk me to reassure the FB fried ship; I thanked him, bid him good wishes, another call followed from another FB friend, same drill follows and I promptly remove my Mobile No. from the FB profile. I have no grudges to those who called, I appreciate it. The calls could have been made out of curiosity or as part of a scheme, that only time will tell. I use a corporate phone, which is under surveillance. I cannot have too many unexplainable calls, from that phone. Any how it was refreshing that somebody asks me the caption; inquire about my well being, to all which I am unfamiliar. 90% of my calls are business calls and in the usual line “Your quotes are on the higher side”, “we do not agree to clause so & so”, and so on. One step backward 2 steps forward and both the caller and the called feel “a Win- Win situation” to be proved otherwise at a later stage. To all my newly acquired friends, my suggestion is, if you have anything to say that is worth listening please post in the FB. Please do not flood the inbox with your various styles of photo, natural sceneries, religious sermons, and above all the comical political dramas enacted by a bunch of buffoons’ day in and out in our State.
