SUMMER 2015 INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY AT THE CONGRESSIONAL HISPANIC CAUCUS INSTITUTE (CHCI): DEADLINE: January 30, 2015 DESCRIPTION: Selected undergraduate students will receive an all expenses covered, paid work placement in a Congressional Office or Federal Agency for eight weeks. Students will participate in a leadership training program, a community service project, and take part in educational as well as professional programming provided by CHCI. QUALIFICATIONS: Students must be enrolled full time as an undergraduate student working towards their four-year degree. High academic achievement (preference of 3.0 GPA or higher) Evidence of leadership skills and potential for leadership growth Demonstrated commitment to public service-oriented activities Superior analytical skills, outstanding oral and written communication skills Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees, or individuals who are lawfully authorized to work full-time without restriction for any U.S. employer and who, at the time of application, possess lawful evidence of employment authorization. Note: Individuals who are seeking consideration under the “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival” (DACA) policy must possess an Employment Authorization Document at the time of application Preference will be given to individuals with financial need. RESPONSIBILITIES: Interns will be responsible for a number of tasks, including, but not limited to, drafting memos and correspondences, responding to constituent inquiries, attending hearings and briefings.
