SUMMER IS HERE. Outdoor shows, the weather is hot and the dancers are sweating. THIS IS GOOD. Dance is where art and athletics collide. Its not a dancers job to be a pristine painted doll, its a dancers job to entertain, inspire, and meet the clients wishes (Obviously within reason). Of course professional appearance is incredibly important, but not to the point that concern for your appearance should supersede your concern for doing your job well. When I enter, I am well turned out, but by the end of my set I am rosy cheeked, my hair is flatter from sweat, and you can see it rolling down my skin. You know why? Because a good dancer doesnt just prance around in a pretty dress and false lashes, were working and MOVING to entertain. After anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes of that, DAMN SKIPPY I AM SWEATY, AND DAMN SKIPPY I AM PROUD.
