SUMMER TIP...Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are very real and dangerous situations. If you are in the heat and start to feel nauseous, confused, dizzy, get muscle cramps or a headache and/or become very thirsty, pale skinned or start to excessively perspire...Listen to your body, get to the shade or cool area, rest, drink cool or cold water, use a cold rag around your neck and under your arms, and grab a pinch of real salt if you can (like Himalayan or Celtic...the key is the minerals, table salt will not do the job). If heat exhaustion is not taken care of immediately, it can progress to heat stroke which can cause brain and organ damage and is nothing to take lightly. If the person does not show significant signs of improvement within a half an hour, seek medical attention right away. Children under 4, people over 65 and those with health conditions are the most susceptible. Be prepared and informed and enjoy the summer wisely!
