SUMMERHILL CIRCLE INVESTIGATION 30 December 2014 Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are investigating a Deputy Involved Shooting incident that occurred Monday evening. Deputies responded to a residence in the 100 block of Summerhill Cr., shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday in reference to a domestic situation. Sergeant James Priester and Deputy Joshua Butler were first to arrive on the scene and encountered the male individual in the front yard. The subject, who was armed with a shotgun, refused to drop the weapon following several verbal commands. The suspect then pointed the weapon at deputies who in turn fired multiple rounds striking the individual, identified as Timothy Edward West, 48, St. Augustine. The subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputies entered the residence to investigate the initial complaint and located a female who was pronounced deceased as well who died from injuries from an earlier event. She has been identified as Tonya Renee West, 33, St. Augustine. Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians worked throughout the evening and early morning hours processing the scene. The bodies have been transported to the District Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the exact cause of death. Major Crimes Unit Detectives are continuing the investigation.
