SUNDARK: I forgot to share the continuation. ( Elle had just finished witnessing the Sundark spin supernaturally. ) Elle heard the leaves flutter in the trees. “Was that what you wished me to see, Miss Dufish?” Elle said softly, as she stared up at the house. It appeared as it had on the carriage’s initial approach, solid and whole. The sun glowed on its red walls and jewelled windows. The driver urged his horse again, which reluctantly resumed its pace. “Not quite . . . that, Mrs. Black,” Josefina said slowly. Elle heard a rumbling. The two matching Arabesque domes slowly began to rotate, then the tower portions beneath, in the opposite direction. The round porch also proceeded to move, gently carrying away Misses Brunch and Sweetwater until the entire porch had rotated into the house and revealed its other half, which bore two men seated in wicker chairs, enjoying cigarettes. Once the rotation completed, the porch came to a stop, and then the towers and domes ceased their leisurely dervish above. The weathervane slowly spun. “I be referring to the evening mechanical turning of the house,” Josefina said belatedly. ~Work in progress, Sundark, An Elle Black Penny Dread.
