SUNDAY 13TH, JULY 2014 BINDING AND LOSING MATTHEW 18:18 Binding is like a temporary spiritual hand cuffing. You can bind a demon spirit but you cannot kill a demon. It is such a pity that you hear many people praying and saying the devil should die or they command demons to die. Such a prayer cannot be answered. You cannot bind a person’s free will but you can bind the demon affecting or influencing that person. Loosening means unbinding in the spiritual realm; and like binding, it can be accomplished here on earth. When this action is performed in prayer, it takes effect in the spiritual realm. Loosening here however refers to the loosing of a captive or person who has been in bondage. You bind demons and you lose the captives from bondage. Luke 13:12 says: “But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her ‘woman you are loosed from your infirmity”. For you to ‘bind and loose’, you must be born again, you must carry the power of God in your life and you must stay away from sin. Many live in sin but they like to ‘bind and loose’. But the demons can’t obey you. Instead when you bind them, they will sponsor and bring many problems and poverty into your life. Thus you need to study the word of God and live by it for you to be victorious. When I started newly in my ministry, I was not too strong in the word, so when I finished praying for someone, I would not be able to sleep that night. I had to fight all through the night until God helped me. Be careful when you bind and loose. It is not for everybody. You must be firmly rooted in the word and in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 3:17 says: “That the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work”.
