SUNDAY, 20TH OCTOBER THE PEOPLE OF GOD KEY SCRIPTURE: Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” I want you to take an honest examination of yourself to see if you really represent your God properly where you work, where you live and among your peers. Billy Graham makes a profound statement, that “Christ meant for His followers to be different. But being merely different was not enough. They were to be the cleanest, kindest, most unselfish, friendliest, most courteous, most industrious, most thoughtful, truest and most loving people on Earth”. Every nation works hard not only to develop infrastructure and other social provisions but paramount of all is the development of its citizenry; and while the citizens are out in another nation it is a cherished desire that they behave properly and do not bring shame to their motherland. Anytime anyone has been caught in one crime or the other while visiting another country, it brings shame to the whole nation, (at least in my second country UK) there are always widespread cries and condemnations; it is on primetime news and carried by many networks; a warning is immediately sent out to others to behave themselves well while out there. If we being men seek the best from our citizens, how much more will the God and saviour of our souls require from the sons and daughters of the Kingdom, that we represent the King and His righteous Kingdom properly. Wherever you are and whatever you do, remember God is counting on us to spread the good news by becoming great ambassadors of the Kingdom; we are truly the people of God, we should let our light shine before men.
