SUNDAY 25th JANUARY 2015 THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR B) Primary School Retreat Day - Friday In preparation for their First Confessions the following day, all our Primary School children will be here in church on Friday between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm for a Retreat Day. We will have our normal 12.15 pm Mass that day while they are having their lunch! First Confessions - Saturday Apologies there are no Parish Confessions next Saturday as we are welcoming all our children, in two groups, to make their First Confessions. Christleton Churches Together Wonderful response to our experiment in getting together the Christleton CT and Waverton CT for joint services in each others churches at noon everyday last week. I shall be preaching at the Sunday Evening Service tonight in Christleton Methodists, which will mean I shall have to keep the sermon very brief at our own 6.00 pm Mass. (Werbies, can you be brave about this, please?) Week of prayer for Christian unity Bishop Mark is preaching at the County Ecumenical Service at St Marys Nantwich this evening at 6.00 pm. St Werburghs parish social Friday 6th February, down in the Club (Brook Street) 7.00 pm. Everyone warmly welcome. Free Buffet and Free First Drink. (The other ten you have to pay for). One wooden set was used in the Church during WWII when the ceramic ones were removed for safe keeping. The other additional set are watercolours painted by Thomas Burke, a Liverpool artist who spent four years in POW camps during WWII, and who died within two months of being repatriated. This is the first time that they have been hung in a church since they were in the POW camp chapel. From the 2nd Sunday in Lent there will also be a small exhibition to tell more of Thomas Burkes story and display some of his other work. On 10th March there will be a talk about him at 7.30 pm. First Holy Communion Prayer Sponsors Would you like to become a Prayer Sponsor for one of our First Holy Communion children? They pray for the children as they are preparing to receive the Sacraments. The children very much appreciate your prayers during this special time. The SVP will be at the back of church today to see you if youd like to volunteer. Living Joyfully- Liverpool Cathedral Saturday 7th February 2015 Everything you wanted to know about consecrated life and the priesthood but were afraid to ask. The Cathedral will be open for people to visit the various displays set up by (from 10.30 am) different congregations and organisations and to meet their representatives. 10.30 am - 1pm: Live and recorded praise and worship music. 1pm - 6pm: Living Joyfully - a series of workshops, discussion groups and light-hearted activities providing an opportunity to meet religious, priests and consecrated laity and learn more about their lives. 6.30 pm: Mass of Sunday celebrated by Archbishop McMahon LivingJoyfully2015@gmail Facebook: Vocations Network North West - UK
