SUNDAY 30TH MARCH DEVELOP YOUR LISTENING SKILL “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” (James 1: 19) Listening is a skill, just as speaking. Skill means proficiency or ability in doing something well. The speaking skill is often developed by man, whereas man learns more by listening and learns nothing by talking. A person who listens very well in a teaching-learning process profits more in the class. Learning to listen develops our ability to learn. We must learn to listen more than talking. Listeners also learn a lot during spiritual talks and social interactions. It pays much to be a good listener. Being a good listener benefits you in daily life than being a talkative. Today’s text encourages you to be swift to hear and slow to speak. This means that you need to be very attentive and sensitive to grasp every word that is said while you maintain a profitable silence. The bible says, “... in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength....” (Isaiah 30: 15). Develop a principle of being quiet to listen when discussion is going on in any subject. Learn to talk less of what you know and listen more to acquire more knowledge. The listener will soon become an expert on the given field of knowledge. Develop your listening skill and learn to excel. WORD OF PRAYER:- Oh lord, help me to be a good listener from this day forth in Jesus’ name, Amen. QUOTE:- Much is learnt by listening, nothing is learnt by talking. Hope you are preparing for the Enthronement Service this morning?
