SUNDAY CONFESSIONAL: In truth I see myself, I guess... as the nutritionist from the wrong side of the tracks. So to speak. The girl next door type. I dont have anything new or WOW to give people, Im not into any of the diets, not even 80/20 - I think: whos to say its 80/20 & what is consumed during the bad food 20? And about that bad food, the problem with it is really regularity of consumption. I mean if you have the odd glass of Coke at a party or the footy or the fun fair then thats totally not going to make an unhealthy difference. Drinking it every day sure as shit will though. And many people do: which leads us to label it bad. (NOT advocating Coke drinking just using it as an example). So yeah, Im not the nutritionist who will appear out of reach or haloed or even more knowledgable perhaps than some people who spend great amounts of time personally perusing nutrition information. And even the nutritionists who seem all-knowledgable will have areas of specialty that they are indeed the gurus of & others they need to look into for lack of experience. This is where say, a primal eating person may seem to know it all, but its primal eating they know about not diabetes or infertility etc. Or a diabetes specialist will know nothing of sports nutrition. Or a fertility expert will send you onwards if you want weight loss. No one knows it all. No one is THE authority. Its through time & repeat exposure to cases that a nutritionist will feel for their niche, their better interest, their calling of sorts. Right now with two young kids & not a lot of time to polish my skills, I feel my area to focus on is the very most basics. The stuff that isnt really mind blowing. The stuff that might make me appear amateur... I worry about this I wont lie. Its my ego getting in the way. But thats cool. Its not forever & Im learning a lot along the way. YAY for learning! Kx
