SUNDAY, MARCH 23, 2014 DEVOTION THEME: ONE THING KEY TEXT: Psalm 27:4 (One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple) - KJV. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ The above statement was made by David to indicate his priority in life; which is staying in the house of God for life. Last week Sunday, we looked at Davids gladness to be invited to the house of God (Psalm 122:1) and the concomitant benefits involved in being in Gods house. This morning, the Lord says, just as David pointed out, our priority or main focus in life is to be in Gods house throughout our lives. We have our individual scale of preferences in life and there is no doubt that, most often, our top-most desires are wealth, good job, happy marriage and so on. Being in Gods house in this context does not mean going to church per se, but it broadly means we must desire to stay in holiness and hence in the presence of God at all times, places, situations etc. 1st Cor. 3:16 tells you that your body is the temple of God and so to crave to be in Gods house for life is to have the penchant to be righteous in order to let Gods Spirit which dwells in you take dominion and prevail over your life. For this, John 4:24 says our God is a Spirit and so those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. One thing you must desire in life most is to be in Gods house by being where God is but not to pursue worldly and material things which are casual, temporary, transient, transitory or ephemeral, because if you should gain the whole world with its good things but lose your life, it is useless (Luke 9:25). Revelations 7:15 points out that the saved or saints after here, shall remain before Gods throne in Heaven and worship Him day and night forever and so start to practise it from here in order to qualify for this in Heaven. May the Holy Ghost help you to set your priorities right in life from today by always craving to be in the Lords house! HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY!!!
