SUNDAY MESSAGE FULFILLING CHRIST’S MANDATE ON EARTH Mark 16:15; John 9:4 The main thrust of Christ’s earthly ministry was to seek and save the lost. This was His primary pre-occupation, passion and purpose of ministry. He gave Himself wholly to this business and spared no time or effort to accomplish this urgent task. “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work...” (John 4:34). Christ gave His all, and paid the greatest price and sacrifice to redeem lost humanity from the bondage of sin and Satan. His parting charge and challenge to the Church is to “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. This is the mandate and indeed, the greatest work that every child of God must be involved in. This charge is generally called the Great Commission. The disciples who heard Jesus giving this charge lived to fulfil the task (Mark 16:20). The early Church continued and carried out the Great Commission (Acts 8:4; 17:16). They launched out with a great thrust and reached forth everywhere preaching the gospel. For us today, this is the time of a great harvest for Christ by His Church. No sacrifice is too great, no expense or time too much to be invested in the task of soul-winning. The work has not ended yet; there is still much to be done. We are to re-dedicate our lives and give the best of our time and resources to bring the lost into the kingdom of God.
