SUNDAY MORNING COMPASSION Saved a fly today. Not my usual - TopicsExpress

SUNDAY MORNING COMPASSION Saved a fly today. Not my usual response. But during morning meditation a frantic buzzing intruded. Tried to ignore. But how could I listen to the horrific sound of a tortured creature? On the window ledge at the head of the bed a web with a captured fly. Not just captured but being encased in silk by the wily spider. I grab a nearby Q-tip and initiate a rescue. On the front porch, I gently remove the silk. The fly surprisingly still. Was I too late? No! As soon as the silk is gone from his wings, he takes flight into the early morning air. So I have deprived a spider of breakfast, and released an insect that I usually try to swat. It was the right thing to do.
