SUNDAY MORNING REFLECTIONS: “The Walk of a Christian” .. Ephesians 4: 17, 20-24 (17) “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, (walk not as sinners) in the vanity (empty illusions of sin) of your mind.” .. (20-24) “But ye have not so learned (from) Christ.; If so be that ye have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the formed conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to deceitful list; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Paul shares with us six ways to walk with Jesus. He is not talking to us about the physical walk, but the spiritual walk of the Christian who has trusted Jesus Christ for the salvation of his soul. The Christian life is to be a different walk from those of this world as our verses point out. It is a life of separation to holiness! How does your walk (deportment of life!) and my walk measure up to Gods standard? Let me share with you “The Walk of a Christian” as outlined by Paul in the book of Ephesians. I am using the six point outline of Pastor Alan Carr because it is a good one, and I give him the credit for the study help. 1- The .. WORKING .. Walk … Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” As someone has said, “We are not saved by our works, but we work because we are saved.” Salvation will produce good works to the glory of God. It is said of Jesus in (Acts 10:38) “Jesus went about doing good..” Are we just going about, or are we going about doing good? The saved life is a working life! 2- The .. WORTHY .. Walk … Ephesians 4:1 “I therefore the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy (by your lifestyle) of the vocation wherewith ye were called.” The word worthy means to balance the scales, in other words let you walk line up with your talk. Do you profess to be a Christian, then let your lifestyle become the gospel of Christ. The only way the world can see Christ is by your walk with Him in the vocation of being a Christian. It is a job unto righteousness! 3- The .. WHOLEHEARTED .. Walk … Ephesians 4:17 “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.” Saved people are to be different with a line of demarcation that separates them from the sinful practices of the world around them. As a Christian how different is your life from those around you. Do you do the same things, say the same things, and view the same things as lost men and women do? 4- The .. WONDERFUL ..Walk … Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ also loved us, and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.” The Christian life is characterized by love. It is the hallmark, the identifying mark of the Christian life. Jesus said. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:35) How strong and revealing is your love for Christ and for your neighbor? 5- The .. WITNESSING .. Walk … Ephesians 5:8 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.” We are not only to live in the light of Christ, but we are to live as the light of Christ in this dark sinful world. WHY? There has been a change, “Ye were darkness” but now “Ye are light” or have been made light. The world is trapped in darkness and needs our light. How brightly are you shining as a Christian? 6- The .. WISE .. Walk … Ephesians 5:15 “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.” Circumspectly means to walk accurately, exactly, and diligently as wise men and women in the Lord. To walk in disobedience and sins delight is to walk as fools walk. The walk of a Christian is to duplicate the walk of Christ, and to let his life live through us who are saved. Walk wisely my friends. To walk with Christ below is grand, but to walk with Christ above will be glorious! Amen? Amen! “I’m Walking with Jesus” This world is not my home, I may leave most any time, I’m ready now and waiting, to leave this world behind; There are many mansions yonder beyond this mystic foam, I’m walking with Jesus; I’m on my journey home. I’m walking with Jesus, Walking with Him each step of the way, each step of the way, I’m feeling His presence, every day, yes every day; I know that I am safe, I know that I am safe, in the Saviour’s love, I’m walking with Him to my home above, to my home above.
