As we prepare to close out this calendar year, the Town Staff has been busy preparing for the upcoming community events to be held during the months of November and December. We’ve scheduled the Laguna Vista Live: Music by the Bay event on Saturday, November 9, and we’ve scheduled the Veterans Day ceremony for Monday, November 11 at 5:30pm. Please read below to learn more about these community events and how you can possibly get involved. Local resident Dr. Julie Monroe, who operates PI Animal Clinic, will be having a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, November 9 from 9 to 12 noon at the Roloff Park parking lot area. Bring your pets for their vaccinations. For the month of December, we’ve having the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Roloff Park on Thursday, December 5. In addition, to encourage you to show your Christmas spirit, we are planning a Christmas Tree Lighting Contest at Roloff Park and a Christmas Home Decorating Contest. Serving you, I remain Rolando ------------------------------ Parks Board Special Meeting The Parks Board will be having a special meeting on Monday, November 4 at 5pm in order to discuss and possibly take action on the following: 1. Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Thursday, December 5 at 5:30pm 2. Christmas Tree Lighting Contest – decorate trees at Roloff Park. Participants bring their own lights, extensions, etc to decorate trees at Roloff Park. Winners will be announced during Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony event. 3. Christmas Home Decorating Contest – create rules and establish a deadline. In addition to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony that will be held on Thursday, December 5 at Roloff Park, the Town wants to also include a Christmas Tree Lighting Contest at Rolof Park and encourage citizens and local organizations to “adopt” a tree at this park and decorate it. The Town also wants to have a Christmas Home Decorating Contest. We want our residents to enter this contest. It’s a great way to show off your pride and light up this special season. It’s also a perfect project for the entire family to enjoy. Rabies Clinic Scheduled The Port Isabel Animal Clinic will be conducting a rabies clinic on Saturday, November 9 from 9am to 12 noon at the parking lot at Roloff Park. Veterinarian Dr. Julie Monroe will be onsite and participating at this clinic. We encourage you to bring your pets for their rabies vaccinations. Laguna Vista Live: Music by the Bay Scheduled – Call For Vendors We’ve scheduled the Laguna Vista Live: Music by the Bay for Saturday, November 9 from 5 to 9pm. We’re going to have music, children’s activities and vendors selling food, drinks and crafts.
