SUNDAY THINGS Someone called me an atheist last week. Sorry, but I am not an atheist. I believe in God and follow Christ, only Im not stupid. My beliefs have not made me to stop using my head. Religion is the easiest tool of deception. Thats why fraudsters and politicians use it so much. My brother-in-law was convinced to sow his car into the life of his pastor when he had financial difficulties. Why should I give to the greedy and deny the needy? Christ didnt teach that, he taught us to give to the least of his brothers. Why should I vote for an incompetent and corrupt leader just because he claims to attend my Church or Mosque? Wont a pagan who is guaranteed to deliver the dividends of good leadership serve me better? Why should I touch not a pedophile; a rapist; a ritual killer; a thief; a fraudster; a greedy opportunist and a cheat, simply because he hides behind religion? Why should I believe a prayer of it is well with you IJN when I know that the prophet has more than enough to make things well but will not because he greedily wants more for himself? Why should I kill or defend a God whose job is to protect me? Is He not the ALMIGHTY? Religion is not stupidity. Why should I be a suicide bomber because I hope to get a river of wine and some virgins in the next world? Why is the cleric telling me about these virgins not in haste to go get his? Why should I be a warrior for a politician using religion to spur me on when his children are safely cocooned in a school abroad? I am not an atheist. I believe in Jah, the creator of the universe. But sometimes, I feel like I have nothing to fear from the atheist because he doesnt need to bomb me for his god. Neither is he coming with a holy book to cheat me. I dont just believe in Jesus Christ, I love him and believe in the significance of his death. If the whole world would follow his teachings, there would be no war. He was simplicity personified. He did not grab all the food and leave his followers to starve. He didnt fleece his sheep to feed fat, build mansions, buy jets, build private universities, wear designer clothes and jheri curl his hair. No, he was just a simple teacher who did mighty things. I dont believe in stupid prayers either. Like mounting heavy speakers around our streets at night and screaming babababababababababa into microphones because you want to kill ebola, corruption, boko haram, unemployment, barrenness, bad roads, etc. I believe God has answered all these prayers already by giving us resources to achieve what we want to achieve. Funny enough, those who do not believe in science and technology are the greatest consumers of technological products. The scientists live simple. Prophets own private jets that they couldnt produce with prayers(without action)
