SUNNY SATURDAY: A cold start to the day across Britain and Ireland with frost and icy patches but for many parts it will then be a fine and sunny day. There are some showers, heavy and wintry at times, across northern and western Scotland, Northern Ireland and northwest England but these will tend to become fewer and further between as we go through the day with the winds also easing later. Maximum temperatures today of 4°C to 8°C, mildest towards the southwest.
