SUNY New Paltz Sculpture area represent! Savannah Blum, Sculpture BFA 2014, has been awarded the prestigious International Sculpture Centers Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. It is quite rare for an undergraduate to be honored with the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award, competing with MFA students from 151 universities and 6 countries. The honor speaks to the exceptional quality of her work. Savannah is the third student from the SUNY New Paltz Sculpture Program to be honored with the ISC award (Bum Joo Jeong, Keith Hoyt) and two other sculpture BFAs (Michael Brown, Elizabeth Torrey) were awarded honorable mentions. Our sculpture students have been honored five times in the last 10 years in this prestigious international competition, a fact we believe speaks to the exceptional quality of the SUNY New Paltz Sculpture Program and the Fine Arts Dept. at SUNY New Paltz. We congratulate Savannah on her extraordinary accomplishment. Her work is featured in the October issue of Sculpture Magazine and is currently exhibited at the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ through April 5th, 2015.
