SUPER LONG POST!! here it comes!! my reflections on 2014. This was a great year for me in so many ways, looking back. I love looking back and feeling that it was year well lived!! Writing it down helps, but I dont expect everyone to be interested in reading : ) A lot of creativity and growth is what I will remember about 2014. MUSIC: I wrote around 15 songs--a huge output for me--largely because I was working on records and because of Bob Schneiders song group which required a song a week! I recorded 2 solo songs and a BlueBonnets CD which I did tons of work on, including mixing 2 tracks at my minimal home studio. PERFORMING: This year started The Bluebonnets love affair with Jane Lee Hooker - our sisters in rock! We played shows together East and West, supporting each other, cheering each other on, sharing equip, contacts, and good vibes that continues on into the next year. WRITING: I took an advanced creative writing class and found out I could write fiction when I actually sat down and had to--I wrote 3 short stories, all of which could be quite good with a bit more revision and editing. Really proud of that, and a little scared too--when I can do something, I feel like I should KEEP at it, and thats a tall order. EDUCATION: I earned 12 hrs college credit this year towards my Fine Arts/English degree! with the writing class, a speech class, and an American Lit CLEP test which was a great exercise in self motivation and discipline. PARENTING: I loved my daughter Audrey more every day and watched her transition into middle school way better than I was able to do!! Being her mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life. BUSINESS: I am excited to be a partner and investor in a new event space that will be opening in Austin in 2015. Its been great being a part of this new venture which will provide a beautiful environment for artists of all sorts to present their work and for people to enjoy high end drinks, sound, and visual content. woohoo!! PROFESSIONAL: I was presented with an award by one of my favorite bands ever, Blondie, into the Austin Music Hall of Fame! TRAVEL: I spent time in England with my fun, hilarious, and very wonderfully smart and quirky family and visited Scotland for the first time. I had a great holiday in the USVI, St. John, with Audrey. FRIENDS: I kept my old great friendships afloat--which always takes effort with busy lives--and made some great new friendships I look forward to pursuing next year. HEALTH: I didnt break anything!! I lost weight, I gained weight--the usual! I started playing basketball at the end of the year with Audrey and Steven, so much more fun of a workout. Also got a great new dentist and a new holistic practitioner who I swear is a wizard! When you get to be in your 50s, body maintenance is a priority! EMOTIONAL RESCUE: I got another year of distance from the awful events that ended my time as a Go-Go, and was able to see, in hindsight, how wonderful things can come in ugly packages. I finally stopped trying to understand or figure out what happened and accepted that all is as it should be. SOCIAL MEDIA: I embraced Facebook after years of being primarily a twitter person!! Which brings me to you, if you happened to get this far! I sincerely enjoy all the interactions and posts on this page--Ive never been an elitist, and Ive never liked pedestals or the idea of being above fans. I think people are interesting and one of the best things about having any amount of name recognition for me is being able to connect with people. I met many fans when I was a Go-Go, and most people I met remember the encounter positively--thats because I am honored and flattered to matter to people, and I know that it means a lot for a person to meet a music artist they look up to or admire. Now that I dont have that kind of access, I want to THANK YOU ALL for following this page and supporting me in all I do--it is the BEST feeling to know that there are people out there who notice, like, appreciate, give a shit--however you want to say it!! I wish for a new year of adventure, peace, contentment and good health for all of us.
