The song is trying to set out the emotions of a ladylove who wants to send a longing plea to her lover to come free her from the distress she is undergoing by taking her along. But it is marked as a classical song where a devotee pleads for a union with LORD MURUGA , son of goddess SIVAKAMI. Such situations are like a home ground for our K and he will dabble with words to make a poetry that will strike a chord with the listener almost immediately. Even this does. But K is not a K if he does not make even cine music convey his inner thoughts subtly even if it has no remote resemblance to the thematic content of the song. MANJUNATH for instance Whatever, it is one super melancholic melody sung with great acumen by P.SUSHEELA. It looks easy with its linearity but you need to navigate through high notes with fine sangathis that it is a huge challenge She is just incomparable in such songs. How does SPOORTHY fare? If you list the items in terms of toughness in delivery, the opening and closing alaap wil head it. That , very typical of her , she hands over perfectly. But at two places, the sangathis were more opaque.That is Spoorthy for you.Though not her best her sheer courage to attempt this.must have weighed with judges in giving her a draw against Sai Charan who also did not set Cauvery on fire either.
