SUPER SUNDAY SERMON RECAP: One bad apple DOES spoil the bunch, but what does that mean for the tree? The Word says in Luke the 6th chapter that, No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. In other words, evil speaks of evil and good speaks of good. According to the Word of God, your tree will either produce good fruit or bad fruit. Take a quick look at five metaphors that aid in the tree producing bad fruit: 1. Dormant Wood Tree - inactive or sleep; many Christians are sleep / selectively blind to the Word at times, at their convenience 2. Driftwood Tree - floats on top of the water, to and fro, not planted, depending on the forces of the tide, in one minute, out the next; these Christians are unstable, unpredictable, unproductive, and many times not always understood 3. Dry Wood Tree - at one time this tree was green and full of life and then at some point it became cut off from the nourishment to sustain it; this describes a Christian that has a lack of spirituality, vision, and purpose 4. Decaying Wood Tree - planted, but no signs of growth, no signs of life; Christians like this need a renewal of their mind and spirit in the Name of Jesus, a revival in the ways of the Lord 5. Diseased Wood Tree - infested and infected with some sort of virus or bacteria (sin) that has enveloped and consumed it; these Christians need Jesus, repentance, to be loved and to love. One cannot be a Christian by proxy, because you go to church, work in the church, read the bible, or give money to the church - your heart in regards to your relationship with the Lord, thats the key to true Christianity, everything else will follow in accordance and in order. Remember, any tree that is without Gods touch, the wood from that tree is only good for one thing . . . to be burned.
