SUPER-SWEET, YUMMY & STICKY This is a snack delicacy popular in Northern Luzon, particularly in the Ilocos Region. It is glutinous (malagkit) rice, wrapped in a small bag made of woven coconut leaves or fronds, as shown in the photos below. This is then cooked, submerged in a boiling sugar cane juice in a big iron or steel vat. This is usually done during the production of raw brown sugar or muscovado throigh a primitive way of milling by the use of a DADAPILAN (the Ilocano term for the sugar juice extractor). This can also be prepared at home in a small-scale by boiling brown sugar or muscovado in a big iron pot or pan. The coconut leaf-warpped malagkit rice is then submerged in it to cook over a wooden fire or gas stove. Ano po ang tawag dito? Nakakain na ba kayo nito? Alam nyo ba kung saan mabibili ito sa Metro Manila?
