SUPERFOOD SUNDAY~ Try a WHEATGRASS shot this week. WHEATGRASS FAST FACTS: ~Wheatgrass is a live food packed with nutrients including vitamins, minerals and amino acids. ~Wheatgrass is rich in vitamin C and B. ~Wheatgrass is especially rich in chlorophyll. ~It has a detoxifying and healing effect on the body. ~Wheatgrass is a great energizer. On an empty stomach, it is assimilated in the bloodstream in about 10 minutes and provides lasting energy. MY FAVORITE WHEATGRASS RECIPE: I LOVE a wheatgrass, lemon and ginger shot all mixed together. I find it very cleansing and healing. It tastes like a shot of health. Yes, it is quite medicinal tasting but, all good food is medicine. Drink up! NUTRITIONAL NOTES: Health claims are all over the board on the benefits of wheatgrass. Many claim it cures cancer, acne, heals disease and pulls heavy metals out of the body. What I know for sure is its main claim to fame is chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is like liquid sunshine. Science supports its ability to increase red blood cell production and enhance the cells’ ability to carry oxygen. It also has an alkalizing effect on the body.
