SURF ZONE FORECAST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HONOLULU HI 400 PM HST THU SEP 5 2013 **Outlook through Wednesday September 11: a small northwest swell is expected to arrive later tonight and dissipate Saturday. Another slight increase will arrive late Sunday through Monday. A moderate northwest swell is expected Tuesday night. On the south facing shores, only minimal surf is anticipated, though some locations could see up to 3 feet through the weekend. THU SEP 5 2013 Surf along east facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet through tonight, rising to 2 to 4 feet Friday. Surf along south facing shores will be 1 to 3 feet through Friday. Surf along west facing shores will be 2 feet or less through tonight, rising to 1 to 3 feet Friday. Surf along north facing shores will be 1 to 3 through tonight, rising to 4 to 6 feet Friday. Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, in the zone of maximum refraction. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
