SURPRISE, SURPRISE! Today was a good day . . . this morning I was the Keynote speaker at the Nationalization Ceremony at Golden Hall . . . I was invited to speak at this ceremony . . . but only found out yesterday morning that I was the Keynote Speaker (Surprise… Surprise). I broke my own rule . . . in not inquiring more or not reading between the lines. I addressed about 1,200 people . . . 864 new U.S. Citizens (300+ guests) coming from 86 countries . . . over 200 of them will be changing their name. The new citizen’s children under the age of 18, living in the household became instant citizens. After the ceremony there were representatives from Social Security, Passport Services, Republicans and Democrats registrations... there to assist with paper work. Wow! It was a moving experience and I learned a lot. And the kicker was when I read a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “I Have a Dream” speech – In a very loud voice I read – This will be the day; this will be the day when all of God’s children will be able to sing with new meaning ‘My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my father’s died, land of the Pilgrim’s pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring!” They roared!
