SURREY, CLOVERDALE & ALDERGROVE! Its Saturday, August 16th and tonight theres a FREE Fresh Air Cinema movie night in each of your fantastic neighbourhoods! SURREY - Join the Downtown Surrey BIA at Holland Park (King George Blvd. & 100th Avenue, Surrey, BC) tonight for an awesome screening of the 2014 animated hit, The LEGO Movie at dusk (around 8:30pm). Emmett, an ordinary Lego construction worker, is mistakenly recruited to join a quest to stop an evil tyrant from destroying the Lego universe. Wear your PJs as the Downtown Surrey BIA is trying to break the world-record for biggest Pajama Party starting at 5pm at Holland Park! The BIA will also be filming a fun short video to submit to Record Setter. The total number of PJs at our Pajama Party will be will be counted and announced at dusk - right before we begin playing The Lego Movie. Also, in the spirit of world records and The Lego Movie the Downtown Surrey BIA will also be attempting to build the largest Lego block out of canned food. Be sure to bring a can or two down and help them construct the largest Lego block possible! All cans of food will then be donated to the Surrey Food Bank. A BBQ and lots of pre-show fun and entertainment is also in store - come early, and bring your lawn chair or blanket for this FREE outdoor show. The 1993 kid-classic The Sandlot screens this evening at the Bill Reid Millenium Amphitheater (176th Street & 64th Avenue, Cloverdale, BC). When egghead Scotty Smalls moves to town just before the summer vacation of 1962, his first priority is to make friends. He heads to the nearby sandlot only to humiliate himself before the local kids, but star player Benny The Jet Rodriguez befriends the awkward boy, teaches him the basics of baseball, and welcomes him to the team. Its a summer filled with camaraderie and fun until Smalls hits his first home run. Problem is, Smallss home run sends his stepfathers Babe Ruth autographed baseball into a neighboring yard thats patrolled by a snarling, slobbering monster called The Beast. Creativity reigns and hilarity ensues when the boys risk everything to retrieve the ball. Showtime for this FREE outdoor movie is 8:30pm. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. The Extra-Terrestrial plays under the stars tonight at Aldergrove Athletic Park (26850-29th Avenue, Aldergrove, BC) presented by the Aldergrove Business Association. An extra-terrestrial is accidentally left behind on Earth and is befriended by a young boy and his brother and sister. As Elliot attempts to help his new friend contact his home planet, so that he might be rescued, the children must elude scientists and government agents determined to apprehend the alien for their own purposes...which results in an adventure greater than any of them could have imagined.
