SURVIVOR CAR... A work in progress 1963 Thunderbird Fifty one - TopicsExpress

SURVIVOR CAR... A work in progress 1963 Thunderbird Fifty one years, 146,000 miles, five states and eight owners... Built in October of 1962 and started life in Portland, Oregon. Next home was in Oakland, California. Sometime later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, Wyoming, Tennessee and finally three different owners in Ohio. So far as we can tell by bills and maintenance records that were kept with the car, the engine and transmission have had some work done on them but have never been rebuilt or replaced. I bought the car because I graduated from high school and joined the Air Force in 1963. By now both myself and the car are showing signs of age and more than a few battle scars. I have decided to just keep it running and try to slowly make repairs and improvements as we age and as I am able. This way I can have more time to enjoy it. Some would say Im living in the past... Maybe so, but what I remember when these cars came out I thought they looked like rockets and I wanted one.
