SUSWAM LAMENTS HIGH NUMBER OF GUBER ASPIRANTS Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has lamented the high number of gubernatorial aspirants jostling to take over his position in 2015. Suswam said yesterday that he was not comfortable with the large number of aspirants, pointing out that the race should not be “a tea party to attract many contestants.” The governor’s displeasure came on the day a Daily Trust report indicated that 29 aspirants are vying for the Benue State governorship seat, with the number being the highest in the country. Suswam, while speaking at a special thanksgiving service and reception held in his honour at Ugba in Logo local Government Area, promised to meet with all the aspirants before the gubernatorial primary election with the aim of reducing the number. The governor, who is finishing his second tenure in office, thanked the people of the Benue North-west senatorial district, whom he said had put persistent pressure on him to contest the senatorial seat. He told them that he has accepted their calls on him to stand for the senatorial office in 2015. Also speaking, chairman of the reception which was organised by the Ugondo Development Association (UDA), Prof. Daniel Saror, described the governor as a worthy son who is qualified to represent the zone at the senate.
