SUV Fall Volunteer Project Help spread the word and register Vashonites for Health Insurance See shapeupvashon.org for details about the Affordable Care Act also called Obamacare Registration starts Oct. 1 for coverage starting Jan 1 2014 This project involves working collaboratively with the Vashon Community, and uses our expertise to improve health care access to those who do not have these advantages. How can you help? 1. Take a class to learn to assist people qualifying for the health insurance exchanges to choose the insurance that is best for them. On Friday Sept. 20th, Seattle/King County Public Health will host training on Vashon at the Penny Farcy Building. The training is all day – 9 to 5. After the training you take an on line test. With some other paper work that we will provide, you will qualify to be a volunteer to register people for their insurance. Vashon Youth and Family Services will be providing the required background checks and insurance for you to volunteer. Starting Sept 3 or thereabouts, there will also be an on line version of this training course and test. If you would like to sign up for this class, please email [email protected] and SUV will get you signed up. It will be first come first serve. There are about 40 places for this class. Also email Shape Up if you would like to take the on line course. We will send you the information when it is available.
