Southwesterly winds die out this evening with frosty conditions 90% of the region. KAIKOURA / NORTH CANTERBURY Temperature High: 12 degrees Overnight Low: 4 degrees (Kai) -2 (North Cant) Wind Direction: SW Developing Rainfall: 1-3mm Details: Mainly fine at first with westerly breezes. A change to colder southwesters after lunch, spreading north with showers and snow flurries lowering to 300m about North Canterbury and 500m about Kaikoura by evening. Frosty conditions developing this evening about North Canterbury. CHRISTCHURCH / BANKS PENINSULA Temperature High: 10 degrees Overnight Low: -2 degrees (Chch) 0 (Banks Peninsula) Wind Direction: SW Developing Rainfall: 1-3mm Details: Cloudy periods this morning, fine spells about too. A change to colder southwesters around midday with the odd shower possible until evening, some fine spells too. A few snow flurries to 300m about Banks Peninsula. Frosty conditions tonight. : SOUTH + MID CANTERBURY Temperature High: 10 degrees Overnight Low: -3 degrees Wind Direction: SW Rainfall: 1-3mm Details: Fine and cloudy periods with the odd shower at times at first and then again for a time this afternoon as winds change colder SW leading up to midday. Frosty conditions this evening. CANTERBURY HIGH COUNTRY Temperature High: 10 degrees Overnight Low: -4 degrees Wind Direction: NW to SW Rainfall: 1-3mm Details: A few showers spreading from the west at times this morning.
