SWACHH GOA MISSION... A few weeks ago, and much before PM launched his Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, I CLEANED one of my properties in Benaulim (which was slowly becoming a garbage dumping place). And I did this NOT because of a call from any politician, but because as an educated person I am aware of my rights and duties; and I simply did my DUTY, with no photographer around. I am convinced that if Swachh Bharat Campaign has to succeed in Goa, our government has to do the following... 1. Provide garbage bins which are above the ground so that animals dont eat into them. 2. Collect garbage on a daily basis and get it treated/disposed-off at scientifically designed garbage plants. 3. Impose stiff fines on people who dump garbage OUTSIDE Garbage bins which are kept at predetermined places. 4. Collect non-organic waste directly from homes for REUSE. NB: Please note, that what I stated above are NOT my original ideas but what I SAW with my own eyes in various developed countries that I have traveled. People in these countries are able to get rid of their garbage in the RIGHT way, because their government/municipal council has provided them the RIGHT MEANS. I am sure Goans will take care of their garbage if Goa Government PROVIDES them the right infrastructure for collecting and disposing garbage. And this should happen BEFORE Mopa Airport finalisation. :)
