SWEDISH superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the latest in a long line of footballing greats to praise the unique atmosphere here at Celtic Park when he described his experience here with Ajax back in 2001 as “beautiful and awesome." “It’s probably the best I have seen on the pitch” said the striker, now with Paris Saint-Germain, in a recent interview in his homeland of Sweden. He joins a long list of famous figures from the world of football to speak in glowing terms of Celtic Park and our supporters, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Franz Beckenbaeur. AC Milan and Italy legend Paolo Maldini said, “Every professional footballer should seek to play at least one game at Celtic Park. I have never felt anything like it." And current Barcelona playmaker and World Cup winner Xavi also expressed his appreciation of the atmosphere in Paradise, "The atmosphere generated by the fans in Celtic’s stadium for our visit was the most impressive I’ve ever witnessed," he said. "The grounds of Liverpool and Manchester United are good and the hostile feeling of playing against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu is also excellent, but the atmosphere against Celtic was the best." Lofty praise indeed from some of the world’s greatest.
