[SWIM 11/16/2013] 1 Corinthians 11:27-34 – Report Card Posted on November 15, 2013 by justinryu newcreationunited.wordpress/ “When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.” – 1 Cor. 11:32 In today’s passage, Paul combined two ideas of the reasons of our hardships. Sometimes, we think that we have a hardship as a punishment, other times as a discipline. When we think our hardship as punishment, it is bitter and when we think our hardship as a discipline, sometimes we feel it is too much. However, if we think our hardship as both of punishment and hardship, it sounds much better to me. When we do wrong, God judges us and God uses His judgment as a discipline as well. God doesn’t want God’s children to be judged and punished by this world. So, God does it in person. If I should be judged, I want to be judged not by this world but by God. And if that judgment can work as atonement or a discipline, what can I expect more? I love God’s judgment and discipline – Yes, it makes me clean and strong.
